JobSite Silent Boot Dryer Troubleshooting Manual
Please read the brief problems and solutions troubleshooting guide below if you have any concerns about your boot dryer not functioning correctly.
We provide simple, free replacements for any defective or damaged units under our 2-year warranty.
Boot dryer makes no noise or is not blowing air
The JobSite Silent Boot Dryer uses convection heat, so there is no fan and therefore no noise or blowing air. It functions by warm air naturally rising from the heating element at the base.
If the unit is plugged in and the LED light is on, wait for 15 minutes, then hold your hand above the top of the tubes. You should feel slightly warm air rising. That means it is working properly. If no warm air is rising, contact us.
Smoke is coming out of the boot dryer
It is common for some steam, not smoke, to rise out of the top of the dryer tubes at the beginning of drying. This is caused by dampness on the ceramic resistors, but it will go away once the moisture evaporates.
Remove articles from tubes and inspect if it is indeed steam (clear and odorless) or if it is smoke (black and odorous). Also, check for signs of plastic melting.
If it is steam, it will go away after a few minutes. If it is smoke, unplug the unit immediately. Smoke could be caused if water or flammable items dropped inside the drying tubes or if the unit was plugged into an outlet over 120V. Contact us.
Burning smell is coming from the boot dryer
There can be a smell that is given off when the ceramic resistors are heating up. This smell will disappear after 1 or 2 uses. The smell is similar to that of a hair dryer in use.
Remove articles from tubes and inspect if there is any steam (clear and odorless) or smoke (black and odorous), coming from the boot dryer. If not, there is no concern.
If you see steam, it should go away after a few minutes. If it is smoke, unplug the unit immediately. Smoke could be caused if water or flammable items dropped inside the drying tubes or if the unit was plugged into an outlet over 120V. Contact us.
Boot dryer is very hot, is it safe?
The silent boot dryer uses ceramic resistors to heat up. Ceramic resistors are the safest heating element and are not a fire risk when used properly. The dryer takes time to heat up gradually, at least 15-30mins, and will reach the rated max heating temperature of 110 centigrade due to its limited rated power and then will go down and up periodically. The boot dryer, especially the tubes, can become hot when in use, that is normal. There is no problem unless you see or smell smoke. Please follow all the instructions in the care manual and do not touch the boot dryer tubes when they are in use.
If you see smoke or signs of plastic melting, unplug the unit immediately. Overheating may occur if water or flammable items fall into the drying tubes or if the unit was plugged into an outlet over 120V.
